Don McLean, a singer-songwriter, expressed his disapproval of Prince Harry bluntly, saying that the Duke of Sussex “just doesn’t get America.”
Harry made many criticisms in his book, Spare, mostly directed at the Royal Family. He also took issue with his visit to Memphis’ Graceland, the home of Elvis Presley.
Harry wrote, “Dark, claustrophobic,” of his visit. “You say the King lived here?” I said as I went about. Really? ” He said, “The King’s interior designer must have been on acid.” Harry’s remarks infuriated Don, who at the time criticized him harshly on social media. Now, the American Pie singer has revived the feud.
Don tweeted at the time, saying, “‘Prince’ Harry need to stop talking about Graceland and Elvis. He is a display horse who never accomplished anything, a hot house orchid.”
Don stated as follows in an interview with the Daily Mail: “He doesn’t realize that Elvis is comparable to the king of the underprivileged. His recordings are among of the best ever done, and he appeared out of nowhere.”
“His family was as destitute as they could be,” he continued, “and Harry blasted Elvis’ house as if he’s comparing it to Buckingham Palace, which is utterly off-target. This gentleman was raised to be polite, but while you are a visitor here, you don’t criticize America.”
The Duke of Sussex was chastised by Don after that, saying he “just doesn’t get America.” Don’s remarks follow Harry’s formal documentation indicating that America is now his primary residence, formerly listed as the United Kingdom.
The documentation pertaining to his sustainable travel venture, Travalyst. The documents were dated June 2023, the month when he and Meghan Markle were formally kicked out of Frogmore Cottage.
