Another significant development for the nation has been declared by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), which unveiled the 6 Gigahertz (GHz) frequency band for unlicensed use by RLAN (Radio Local Area Networks), often known as Wi-Fi 6E.
Pakistan is now the tenth nation in Asia Pacific to use 6GHz Wi-Fi after this spectrum was unlocked. Only 60 nations have fully or partially unlocked 6GHZ for RLAN (Wi-Fi) services as of right now, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) said in a statement on Thursday.
At a gathering named “Unlocking Pakistan’s Connectivity: Enabling Next-Gen Wi-Fi in 6GHz Band,” this announcement was made.
PTA Chairman Major General (retd) Hafeez Ur Rehman spoke at the event and stated that Pakistan is now leading the way in the region in adopting next-generation RLAN (Wi-Fi) technology, joining a select group of progressive Asian countries to fully realize the transformative potential of Wi-Fi 6E.
Speakers from META, Dynamic Spectrum Alliance (DSA), Jazz, Nayatel, and Huawei discussed the advantages of adopting Wi-Fi 6E in Pakistan at the event.
The PTA reports that there are now two bands in use for Wi-Fi in Pakistan: 2.4GHz and 5GHz, with 100 MHz and 150 MHz of available capacity in each case.
These Industrial, Scientific, and Medical (ISM) bands, however, support several
