Reddit, a social media platform, has partnered with AI firm OpenAI. This change will improve ChatGPT’s comprehension of Reddit content.
According to a blog post on Reddit, the two companies announced their alliance on Thursday.
Users of ChatGPT will gain from the change as they will have access to more timely content and be more knowledgeable of current affairs. While ChatGPT 4 gives updates through August 2023, ChatGPT 3.5’s free version is updated through September 2021.
OpenAI had previously stated that it trains its massive language models using data that is freely accessible online. It said that the data it licenses from other parties, as well as from its customers and trainers, is used to train its massive language models. Eight newspapers, including The New York Daily journalistic, The Chicago Tribune, and The Orlando Sentinel, filed a lawsuit against the business in April, claiming that OpenAI had improperly utilized their journalistic content.
In August of last year, Redditors also questioned if Its content served as training for ChatGPT.
However, ChatGPT will officially be able to access Reddit content. The Reddit blog article claims that this collaboration will help OpenAI users.
According to Brad Lightcap, chief operating officer of OpenAI, “we are thrilled to partner with Reddit to enhance ChatGPT with unique, timely, and relevant information.”
Reddit commended OpenAI and other similar sites in a blog post, saying they are “fostering human learning and researching ways to build community, belonging and empowerment online.”
