Kourtney Kardashian is sharing her harrowing experience of undergoing emergency fetal surgery during her pregnancy with her first child with husband Travis Barker, 48.
In the season 5 premiere of The Kardashians, streaming since May 23, Kourtney, 45, updates viewers on her pregnancy journey.
“I feel fantastic. While filming, Kourtney was “31 and a half” weeks pregnant. “I feel the oxytocin and all the good pregnancy hormones,” she said. “All day long, I have these pinch-me moments where I think, ‘Wait, we are really having a baby.'”
Kourtney struggled before her now 6-month-old son Rocky arrived, despite her excitement.
“Travis was going to leave for his tour, and we had planned a scan at home so all the kids could see the baby,” she revealed in a confessional.
“The high-risk physician who will perform the scan at my house is extremely meticulous and detailed, and he noticed something that made him want me to see a few specialists.”
She remembers the horrific fetal procedure that left her feeling afraid and alone because Travis couldn’t be by her side, even though she felt “great” and had moments of delight.
Kourtney was 31 and a half weeks pregnant when the filming took place. She was still adjusting to motherhood and frequently had “pinch-me moments” where she couldn’t believe she was expecting a child.
Barker returned to California abruptly in September 2023, following the abrupt end of Blink-182’s international tour.
He later said that the reason for the trip was Kourtney Kardashian’s medical emergency.
According to Kourtney, the drummer for Blink-182 was having problems reaching her on the way home, so he was anxious and disengaged until he could be by her side.
They had to do my surgery immediately away, so by the time he got home, I had already had it done. Thus, as soon as Travis landed, my mom and I went to the hospital,” she said on Thursday’s show. “He shared a bed with me in the hospital.”
