Kate Middleton made her second public appearance since announcing her cancer diagnosis at the 2024 Wimbledon men’s finals on Sunday, looking stunning and radiant in a vibrant violet Safiyaa dress.
The draped lilac design was not only elegant but also a symbolic choice for this specific event.
The Princess of Wales, 42, serves as the royal patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club (AELTC) and chose to honor the organization by wearing one of its official colors.
The AELTC’s colors are “Wimbledon purple” and a dark green shade called “Wimbledon green,” making her lilac dress an ideal choice for the match.
The special bow tie pin she wore also features the club’s colors — but while her Safiyaa dress is still available for purchase, those wanting to buy her brooch might be disappointed.
Only members of the AELTC can wear the ribbon, and with only 375 members and a mile-long waitlist, your chances of getting your own green-and-purple bow are slim.
The mother of three completed her outfit with nude Camilla Elphick slingbacks ($395), By Pariah hoop earrings ($650), Victoria Beckham sunglasses ($295 $207), and Halcyon Days bangles ($215).
Notably, one of the bracelets was adorned with stones in a purple-blue “forget-me-not” color — possibly a tribute to Princess Diana’s favorite flower.
While this is the first time the princess has worn purple to Wimbledon, it likely won’t be her last.
