At Comic Con Northern Ireland, actress Valorie Curry—best known for playing Firecracker in The Boys—recently addressed an abusive fan encounter. Following a bad experience at the event, Curry advocated for setting boundaries with fans in an Instagram story. Although the majority of fans were courteous, she said that one fan’s request for her to mimic her on-screen persona went too far.
“We do need to talk about boundaries and what is appropriate in terms of behavior,” Curry added. “I don’t care if you’re in character or costume,” she continued. You can’t expect those things from me in person, and it’s not humorous. Curry clarified that the fan and his friend persisted in spite of her rejection, which irritated them. “I made it pretty clear that it wasn’t okay, and that only seemed to make this person and their friend angry,” she continued.
The wild conduct and acts of Curry’s character Firecracker in The Boys added to the show’s shock value. Curry did, however, stress that it’s critical to distinguish between her acting and performance
the actor playing it.
Curry wanted to emphasize on social media that it’s important for fans to respect boundaries, especially when they’re at fan conventions. The actress ended by saying she hoped her remarks would increase awareness of appropriate conduct in these kinds of situations.
