One person was killed in a nighttime Ukrainian drone strike on Moscow when fragments from a crashed drone struck and ignited an apartment building, according to Russian officials.
Several high-rise structures were damaged in the incident, which happened in the Ramenskoye neighborhood, around 50 kilometers southeast of the Kremlin.
Emergency services were called in to put out the fire after Moscow Governor Andrei Vorobyov reported that flames from the drone’s ashes had spread to multiple apartments.
Videos surfaced on Russian Telegram channels, purportedly destroying at least five apartments, and showing smoke and flames rising from a multi-story residential complex.

More than thirty flights from important Moscow airports, including Zhukovo and Domodedovo, were suspended as a result of the huge disruptions created by the drone hit.
According to Russia’s aviation authority, Rosaviatsia, via the Telegram messaging app, flights at Moscow’s Domodedovo, Zhukovsky, and Vnukovo airports have resumed normal operations after being temporarily suspended on Tuesday for safety concerns in response to the drone assaults.
According to the Russian military ministry, air defenses downed 144 drones from Ukraine throughout the course of the night, 20 of which were over Moscow.
“72 UAVs were intercepted over Bryansk region, 20 over Moscow region, 14 over Kursk region, and 13 over Tula region,” according to the Ministry’s statement, while an additional 25 drones were shot down across five other locations.
Regarding the strike, which came at the same time as Russian drone attacks on Kiev, Ukraine has not yet responded. The fight is still underway, but it has escalated further as Ukraine develops its own drone technology to attack Russian facilities.
