Two of the biggest names in football are star athletes Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. According to SportsKeeda, these football players are still setting records for their teams at the ages of 36 and 39, respectively.
Ronaldo is currently a player for the Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr, while Messi is currently contracted with the Major League Soccer (MLS) team Inter Miami.
Additionally, Ronaldo was voted the world’s highest-paid athlete.
Some people, nevertheless, are still unconvinced by these two players’ abilities. Former Chelsea player William Gallas stated in an interview with Genting Casino that the “two players would put a stain on their careers if they returned to Europe at this age.”
He claimed that the players from Portugal and Argentina would not be able to handle the intensity of European football, particularly in elite leagues such as the Bundesliga, La Liga, Serie A, and the Premier League.
According to Gallas: “They are both nearly 40 years old, and they seem happy where they are.”
He also said that the two players would not be able to compete with the best players in Europe due to their advanced age and would receive a lot of criticism if they went back.
