Tuesday night at the National Convention, asking voters to support Kamala Harris in her desperate attempt to unseat Republican Donald Trump as president.
Obama, the nation’s first Black president, has thrown his enormous political weight behind Harris as she attempts to become the first woman, Black, and South Asian elected to the US presidency on November 5.
“We don’t need four more years of instability, bluster, and clumsiness. On the second day of the Chicago convention, Obama addressed the delegates, saying, “We have seen that movie before, and we all know that the sequel is usually worse.”
“A new chapter is poised to begin in America. The US is prepared for a better narrative. President Kamala Harris is welcome to take office.”
In addition to criticizing Trump, the Republican who succeeded him in the White House in 2017, he also complimented Joe Biden, his vice president, who was compelled to withdraw from the 2024 contest by Democratic friends out of concern that he would fall short against Trump in November.
“Joseph Biden will go down in history as a president who stood up for democracy when it was seriously threatened. Obama replied, “We love Joe,” to applause. “I am proud to call him my president, but even prouder to call him my friend.”
Michelle Obama, the first woman on the Democratic Party’s wish list to become president, presented Obama.
Michelle Obama remarked, “America, hope is making a comeback,” alluding to her husband’s 2008 presidential run.
and bring justice to both domestic and foreign populations.
Not holding back, she issued a dire warning, stating that Trump will attempt to twist Harris’ story in the same way that he did “everything in his power to try to make people fear us.”
“His limited and narrow view of the world made him feel threatened by the existence of two hardworking, highly educated, successful people who also happened to be Black,” she remarked to thunderous applause.
“Whoโs going to tell him that the job heโs currently seeking might just be one of those ‘Black jobs’?” she inquired. During his campaign tour, Trump made reference to immigrants entering the country as stealing “Black jobs.”
Trump began his political career by disparaging Obama’s citizenship, and he has since repeated these assaults against Harris.
In the disorganized discussions that resulted in Biden withdrawing from the campaign last month and endorsing Harris, his vice president, Barack Obama, aged sixty-three, loomed large.
Harris forward motion
The 59-year-old Harris has seen an unparalleled storm in which her campaign has shattered financial records and filled halls with admirers.

Harris virtually joined from a Milwaukee campaign event. “FREEDOM” placards were held by delegates in Chicago, echoing the signs held by her Wisconsin rally attendees.
The Milwaukee stage was occupied by Harris and her choice for vice president, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, at the same location as the Republican National Convention last month, where Trump officially won the party’s endorsement.
Harris chastised Trump during her address for stating that he was not sorry about the US Supreme Court’s 2022 decision to reverse the 1973 Roe v. Wade verdict, which had established women’s constitutional right to an abortion. The Supreme Court now has a 6-3 majority with three justices nominated by Trump.

“You know, I do think there should be a consequence for poor behavior. We’ll see to it that he pays a price, and that will be at the polls in November,” Harris stated.
In this campaign, Democrats view abortion rights as a winning issue, and Harris, as vice president, has spearheaded the battle on this front.
Going across the aisle
Trump’s former press secretary Stephanie Grisham and former Trump supporter Kyle Sweetser were among the Republicans who crossed the aisle on Tuesday night to speak at the convention. These Republicans have left the party since Trump took control of it.
Grisham detailed how she went from being a “true believer” in Trump to becoming the first senior White House staff member to quit following the assault on the US Capitol by Trump supporters on January 6, 2021.
Republican Mesa, Arizona, mayor John Giles paid tribute to the late John McCain, a state senator from Arizona who was known for reaching across party lines.
A rally outside the venue near Chicago’s Israeli consulate briefly descended into violence as a group of approximately fifty people broke away from the main protest and pressed up against a police line. There were multiple arrests, according to a Reuters witness.
Though most speakers steered clear of the subject, protests over US support for Israel’s conflict in Gaza have overshadowed the conference.
Among those speaking, US Senator Bernie Sanders stood out, saying, “We must end this horrific war in Gaza, bring home the hostages and demand an immediate ceasefire.”
