Washington, D.C. In his capacity as Pakistan’s 30th ambassador to the US, Ambassador Rizwan Saeed Sheikh today handed President Joseph R. Biden Jr. his Letter of Credence.
Senior U.S. administration officials and members of the diplomatic community attended the event, which took place at Blair House.Greetings from the President, Prime Minister, and people of Pakistan were extended to the American leadership and people by Ambassador Rizwan Sheikh during his remarks. He said that the United States and Pakistan have a long history of cooperative relations and have built several foundations for closer bilateral relations.
The Ambassador noted that although Pakistan was still in its early stages of statehood, the United States continued to support it and that both nations are now investing more in their relationship and increasing their collaboration in areas such as commerce, investment, energy, health, and climate change.
Ambassador Rizwan Saeed Sheikh stated, “The economic partnership between Pakistan and the United States is the cornerstone of our engagement, and the United States continues to be the largest destination for Pakistani exports.”
The Ambassador noted that Pakistan is prepared to expand trade with the United States and take in American investments in alternative energy, green technology, industry, digital platforms, higher education, and other areas of mutual benefit, highlighting the two countries’ significant trade potential.
He described the sizable and vibrant Pakistani diaspora community in the US as a bridge connecting the two nations, underscoring their significant contribution.
The Ambassador emphasized the necessity of regular, comprehensive, and goal-oriented discussions in the security and non-security domains that are organized, in order to revitalize the partnership and advance shared interests.
President Joe Biden stated that the Ambassador’s return to Washington, D.C. was noteworthy on a number of fronts.
The President stated, “It represents our unwavering commitment to economic engagement, security cooperation, people-to-people ties, and cultural exchange as well as more than 75 years of friendship between our nations.”
“The security of our people and people elsewhere depends on the continued relationship between our nations. President Biden continued, “The United States will continue to stand with Pakistan to address the most important regional and global problems of our time.
“Our nations are united in the face of formidable obstacles presented by climate change, threats to regional security, and global health security.” The President stated, “We should keep promoting our shared interests in prosperity, trade and investment, economic growth, security, and the U.S.-Pakistan “Green Alliance” framework.
For the peace and security of the area, the partnership between our two nations is still crucial. We value Pakistani-American collaboration in thwarting terrorist threats. Moving forward, we both want to enhance our bilateral relationship and fortify connections between the United States and Pakistan.
He stated.
As he wrapped up, President Biden expressed his excitement about collaborating with the Ambassador to further shared goals and strengthen ties between the two nations.
