Following an incident early on Friday morning, Texas officials issued a Blue Alert, beginning a nationwide manhunt for Seth Altman, 33, who is suspected of gravely hurting a police officer. About 80 miles south of Amarillo, in Memphis, Texas, is where Altman was last seen. He is armed and dangerous, according to the Texas Department of Safety, which has advised the public to stay away if they see him.
Altman is a Caucasian man who weighs about 220 pounds and is 6 feet 2 inches tall. He has red or auburn hair and blue eyes. At around 11 p.m. on Thursday, the man was last observed by the authorities in the 200 block of South Fourth Street in Memphis, wearing jeans and a blue T-shirt.
The shooting of a law enforcement officer, which was covered by BNO News and CBS Austin, is the reason the suspect is wanted. The police was shot several times and transported by air to the hospital; however, it is still unclear what condition the officer is in.
Describe a blue alert.
When a suspect is thought to have killed or gravely injured a law enforcement official and represents a substantial risk to the public, a Blue Alert is issued. The initiative, which was started in 2008, broadcasts descriptions of suspects and vehicles in an effort to facilitate quick apprehension.
