The great Edward vs. Jacob argument is over, and now everyone is watching “The Summer I Turned Pretty” to see Belly’s partner. The popular Amazon Prime series will return for a third season in the summer of 2025, the cast has revealed.
Many have resorted to Jenny Han’s original books in preparation. We do, however, have suggestions if you’ve already finished the trilogy and are in need of a summer romance
A coming-of-age tale, “The Summer I Turned Pretty,” centers on Isabel “Belly” Conklin, a young girl who can’t get enough of the summer. She just wants to spend her time at her beach house with her family and their close friends; the rest of the year is irrelevant. She has essentially spent her entire childhood with the sons of her mother’s closest friend, Jeremiah and Conrad. She’s thought of them as brothers, friends, and even romantic interests over the years.
Belly has always admired Conrad, the older brother, but he treats her like a tiny child. Furthermore, Belly acknowledges that she might have been ignoring Jeremiah for an extended period of time. Now that Belly is getting close to 16, everything has changed, and the lads have a new perspective on her.
This is a three-part series. We’ll Always Have Summer and It’s Not Summer Without You come after “The Summer I Turned Pretty.”
Love and Other Wordsโ by Christina Lauren
This story of childhood pals becoming into lovers is similar, however the “Then” and “Now” are switched around in this book.
Then, as a teenager, Macy Sorenson fell head over heels in love with her closest friend Elliot, who happened to live next door to her family’s lake property. “Now,” Macy works as a pediatric resident and is engaged to a sensible, well-off man. “Then,” Elliot and Macy bonded over their favorite books, phrases, and growing pains over the summers and weekends. Ten years after that terrible night, when a declaration of love changed and wrecked everything, they are inadvertently getting back together.
Some Other Nowโ by Sarah Everett
Similar to “The Summer I Turned Pretty,” “Some Other Now” centers on 17-year-old Jessi Rumfield, who is torn between Rowan and Luke Cohen, the guys who live next door. For Jessi, they are a greater family than her biological one. However, following a catastrophic event and a series of dreadful errors that alter everything, Jessi’s relationship with the Cohen brothers becomes irreparable.
The Summer of Broken Rulesโ by K.L. Walther
In “The Summer of Broken Rules,” Meredith Fox attends her cousin’s wedding and returns to Martha’s Vineyard, where she always spends the summer. She hasn’t returned since her sister’s death, and she was recently unceremoniously dumped, which brings with it a whole new set of complex emotions.
