A “upgraded version” of the multibillion-dollar China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) was the “centre” of bilateral negotiations between Beijing and Islamabad during Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s recent visit, according to a statement released by the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday.
During a conference today, Lin Jian, a spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, addressed questions about the โmain achievements and highlightsโ of Premier Shehbazโs eagerly awaited trip to Beijing from June 4โ8.
Both parties pledged to support one another resolutely on matters pertaining to their respective main concerns and areas of primary interest.
The benefits of the CPEC in advancing Pakistan’s national development and raising the standard of living for Pakistani citizens were greatly acknowledged by both parties.
Both nations pledged to support Pakistan’s development strategy and the high-quality collaborative building of the “Belt and Road,” as well as to engage in real-world collaboration in a range of disciplines that are tailored to the specific needs of the region.
Additionally, in order to better support Pakistan’s social and economic growth, China and Pakistan agreed to encourage the multibillion dollar project’s high-quality joint construction to go deeper and more practically, with the establishment of a “upgraded version” of the CPEC as its center.
The Pakistani government has once again expressed its sincere condolences to the Chinese personnel who lost their lives in the terrorist attack on March 26 in Dasu. It has also emphasized that it will take decisive action to ensure the safety of Chinese personnel, projects, and institutions in Pakistan, as well as to crack down on and severely punish the terrorists involved in the case.

The two parties decided to keep stepping up their coordination and cooperation within the various international multilateral mechanisms, work together to advance inclusive economic globalization and an equitable and orderly world multipolarization, and jointly defend the interests of the vast majority of developing nations as well as global justice and fairness.
23 cooperation documents on the CPEC, transportation infrastructure, agriculture, industry, market supervision, intergovernmental aid, geographic surveying and mapping, media, film and television, etc. were signed by the two parties during the visit.
