Jesus AI image using Shroud of Turin reignites old debate

AI has made assumptions about the appearance of Jesus of Nazareth based on the Shroud of Turin, a relic that many people believe to be the burial garment of Jesus.

Christ appears in the AI-generated image as a Caucasian man with facial thorn marks and a neat beard.

Many Christians have long considered the Shroud of Turin to be one of the holiest relics, and it is kept in a chapel in Turin, Italy. It faintly resembles the bearded guy that Christians identify with Jesus.

This portrayal has generated a great deal of attention and discussion, particularly in light of recent assertions by Italian scientists that the Shroud is around 2,000 years old, which roughly corresponds to the time of Jesus’ life.

Studies using radiocarbon dating, which dated the Shroud to the mid-1300s, revealed in the 1980s that it was a mediaeval construct. Nevertheless, new research employing x-ray dating methods challenges the previous conclusions by indicating that the Shroud’s fabric does, in fact, date from the time of Jesus.

The AI-generated image has drawn skepticism in addition to fresh curiosity.

Jesus’ Caucasian appearance may be explained, according to critics, by the fact that AI frequently reflects the prejudices of those who created it.

Some have noted that because the AI generated the image using pre-existing data, it might not be an accurate representation.
