Joe Biden’s DNC speech criticized for length and confusing remarks

During the Democratic National Convention, Joe Biden gave a speech that was criticized for being too long and occasionally unclear.

The 81-year-old president discussed a range of topics in a speech that came after he decided not to run for reelection.

Evidently moved, Biden talked passionately about his love for America, stopping often to wipe away tears. America, you have my love!” he cried out after his daughter Ashley Biden gave her introduction. The fact that the address was moved outside of prime time, in spite of the crowd’s passionate chanting of “Thank you, Joe!” indicates even more how unpopular the president is becoming within the party.

But Republican opponents instantly turned Biden’s speech into fodder. Ben Shapiro made fun of Biden’s speech’s length, joking that he spoke “48 minutes past everybody’s bedtime.”

In addition, Biden was charged by his detractors with disseminating false information and creating confusion, especially after he reiterated the long-running controversy about the “very fine people” falsehood.

Despite the criticism, Biden remained resolute, saying that he still had a lot of work to do in his remaining months in office. “I have a lot of work ahead of me in the final five months of my presidency. After weeks of sparse public appearances, he said, “I intend to get it done,” as he got ready to go for a vacation in Santa Ynez, California.
