Paul McCartney becomes first UK musician to reach billionaire status

Reportedly, Sir Paul McCartney has accomplished a historic feat by becoming the first musician from the United Kingdom to become a billionaire.

The former Beatle’s net worth increased by ยฃ50 million this year, reaching ยฃ1 billion, according to the Sunday Times’ Music Rich List.

According to the List, Sir Mick Jagger of the Rolling Stones comes in third place with ยฃ415 million, followed in second place by composer Andrew Lloyd Webber with ยฃ515 million.

With a net worth of ยฃ950 million in 2023, McCartney, 81, overtook all other musicians in the wealth rankings, having risen from ยฃ865 million in 2022.

The success of his 2023 Got Back Tour, the rising worth of his vast discography, and Beyoncรฉ’s rendition of the Beatles song Blackbird on her most recent album, Cowboy Carter, are all credited for this financial surge.

In November 2023, he also released the most recent Beatles song, “Now and Then.” John Lennon wrote and recorded the song, called “the last Beatles song,” in 1977, but it was never made public.

“There it was, John’s voice, crystal clear,” McCartney remarked in reflection on this release. It’s quite sentimental. And it’s a real Beatles album that we all play on.

He went on to say, “In 2023, to still be working on Beatles music, and about to release a new song the public hasn’t heard, I think it’s an exciting thing,” expressing his excitement about the music’s ongoing relevance.
