The Republican candidate for Fulton County District Attorney, Courtney Kramer, has openly urged the current DA, Fani Willis, to end the Young Thug YSL trial right away.
Kramer attacked the trial for being more about obtaining notoriety than bringing justice to the community in a statement that was uploaded on X on August 17.
“I challenge my opponent to do the same thing, the right thing, and end this prosecution and release the accused in this case who are being held without bond,” she stated in her letter.
Kramer, who worked for Donald Trump in the White House before joining The Katz Legal Group as an associate counsel, has maintained that the trial ought to be over by now.
She expressed disappointment in the lack of prosecutorial oversight and the amount of taxpayer money spent on a case that she believes is built on the testimony of unreliable witnesses.
She vowed that, if elected, dismissing the YSL case would be her first official action as DA, stating, “If elected, I intend to restore justice, transparency, and integrity to the Office of the District Attorney.”
The Young Thug YSL trial, which began in 2022, centers around allegations that the rapper was operating a criminal gang under the guise of his YSL record label.
Kramer has labeled the trial a “loss of the courtโs time” and accused the current prosecution of lacking preparation and failing to produce exculpatory evidence.
She made it clear that her campaign is about doing what is right for the community, not about politics.
Should Kramer be chosen to be the next District Attorney for Fulton County, she has stated her goals to resist politically driven prosecutions, emphasize community safety, and deal with the backlog of rape kits.
She calls for honesty, equity, and the defense of fundamental rights in the DA’s office as she wraps up her remarks.
