After landing a part in Jacques Audiard’s French musical criminal comedy “Emilia Perez,” Selena Gomez recently talked up about her feelings. Gomez posted a video on Instagram expressing her happiness, adding, “I can’t believe I got the movie.” I will definitely cry now. I’d rather not cry. This is going to be really awesome.
Gomez posted a number of images and videos on Instagram, including one of her embracing her mother and another from a dress rehearsal. The pictures also showed the set of the movie, with Edgar Ramírez, Mark Ivanir, Adriana Paz, Karla Sofía Gascon, and Zoe Saldana among the co-stars. “I discovered I got the part for @emiliaperezfilm and the sessions,” Gomez said as the post’s caption.
The main character of “Emilia Perez” is a frustrated attorney who assists a leader of a Mexican cartel who has escaped to have sex reassignment surgery in order to affirm her identity and avoid detection.
Gomez acknowledged earlier this month how much she admires Meryl Streep, her co-star on “Only Murders in the Building.” The Hollywood Reporter spoke with Gomez, who lauded Streep’s skill and modesty. “She is an inspiration, a highly skilled individual who maintains a humble, professional, and pleasant demeanor. Just by being Meryl, she has taught me so much,” Gomez remarked.
Gomez also spoke of a touching encounter, saying, “My favorite part was seeing Meryl perform live.” She would perform it acapella live each time, which was terrifying, and it made me cry. Although I wasn’t in the scene, I was present.
