Who’s on ICC’s ‘Team of the Tournament’ for men’s T20 World Cup 2024?

The International Cricket Council (ICC) Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 witnessed some remarkable performances by players from different teams but only a few managed to land a spot in the Team of the Tournament this year.

The majority of players named in the ICC’s Team of the Tournament this year belong to the winning team India, which raised its second T20 World Cup trophy after 17 years onSaturday, and team Afghanistan, which reached the semi-final for the first time.

The players form the Indian side include team captain Rohit Sharma, Player of the Tournament Jasprit Bumrah, all-rounder Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav, Arshdeep Singh and Axar Patel.

Meanwhile, the Afghanistan players include Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Rashid Khan, and Fazalhaq Farooqi.

The team was completed by West Indies’ Nicholas Pooran and Australia’s Marcus Stoinis with South Africa’s pacer Anrich Nortje as the 12th man.

Following India’s historic win, Sharma announced retirement from T20Is along with veteran batter Virat Kohli after historic win.

India won their first T20 World Cup title in 2007 (the inaugural edition of the tournament) defeating Pakistan in the final.

This year’s T20 World Cup also ends India’s drought of trophies as they had raised their last ICC trophy back in 2013 when they won the Champions Trophy under the leadership of MS Dhoni.
