According to recent court filings dated August 14, rapper YoungBoy Never Broke Again, better known by his stage as NBA YoungBoy, has declared his intention to enter a guilty plea to a federal firearms charge. The charge concerns a convicted felon’s possession of guns and is related to an incident that occurred in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in 2020. Kentrell Gaulden, also known as YoungBoy, made his decision known to a federal judge by saying, “I wish to plead guilty to the offense charged.”

Following allegations by federal prosecutors that he was discovered in possession of two firearms during the 2020 incident, the rapper was first charged in 2021. Due to his prior 2017 conviction for aggravated assault with a handgun, he is not permitted by federal law to own firearms.
Although the federal gun charge is dropped as a result of this plea, YoungBoy is still facing numerous new state counts in Utah. He was taken into custody in April on suspicion of running a “large-scale prescription fraud ring” while under house arrest. These allegations include possession of a controlled substance, possession of a dangerous weapon by a restricted individual, identity fraud, and forgery. Although YoungBoy was freed on bond in May, it is still unclear when he will go on trial for these additional allegations.โ
